Nothing is as constant as change, and those of you in the classroom fully recognize that these are times of enormous change in education. From the new Common Core Standards, AYP, Race to the Top, and countless initiatives proposing formulae to fix education, the demands on teachers have never been greater. Add to these pressures a national media that seems to focus only on those “bad apples” in the classrooms, it is little wonder why teachers exit the profession. As a fitting contrast, I would like to share the recent words of a “golden apple”, namely Dom Belmonte, President and CEO of Golden Apple Foundation.
If you see an excellent teacher, you are proud.
If your child has an excellent teacher, you are grateful.
If you strive to become an excellent teacher, you are noble.
If you are an excellent teacher, hunker down, ignore the static, and work your craft.
